Where do you live?
Do you know how to use Excel? Then you pretty much know how to use Lawson.
Last week, we happily announced our new Smart Office suite. One of the simple concepts behind Smart Office is that you already know how to use a lot of desktop software. In effect, you “live” your office life in the desktop space. More precisely, you tend to live in a specific application space – often Microsoft Excel. So why not bring Lawson applications to your space rather than making you move to a new space?
Let’s say you know how to use Excel pretty well. Do you really want to learn another interface for your enterprise software? With Smart Office, you don’t have to. You can live in the desktop space and interact with Lawson applications through Excel. Smart Office can maintain a live link between Excel and Lawson applications so changes you make in one are automatically and immediately reflected in the other. You can even make mass changes in Excel and automatically upload them to Lawson. You get the ease of use of a familiar desktop applications coupled with the power of enterprise applications.
Smart Office provides a “liquid” interface that adapts to your needs rather than forcing you to live with its constraints. Power users can plow though it quickly. Casual users get the help they need. You’re no longer constrained by one interface that attempts to satisfy everyone and actually satisfies no one. Smart Office implicitly asks you how you want to work and then adapts accordingly. In fact, Smart Office essentially asks the same question that we ask our customers every day: How can we help you?
As its name implies, The Lawson Opinionizer offers opinions. We believe we've got our facts straight but we don't guarantee it. A new Opinionizer appears every Monday. If you have an opinion, send an e-mail to Opinionizer@lawson.com
